Cloudy days

Sweet babies, it's glorious!! I'm in love with these they are mine...my own...my preciousssss...

Stop judging me.

My boothang at Supernatural Lacquer sent me some glorious polishes from her Cloudy Skies collection. I'll be using them 2 at a time: for this blog post, I'll be showing Pink Cloud Sunset and Silver Lining.

Tah daaaaah. I really like how unique the colour combos are of this collection, and while some of her mattes may have hated holding glitter, these sexy things cannot get enough!

Pink cloud sunset is chock full of pink and purple glitters. There are tiny sprinkles and medium hexes. Gorgeous! And it's suspended and a lovely heather grey crelly. This is 4 thin coats with top coat, and it's my favourite of the collection!

Here's Silver Linings: another lovely heather crelly that has small black and white sprinkles, black and silver hexes and holo dust! Very pretty. This is 4 thin coats with top coat.

The formula was great and smooth; very easy to apply. Can't wait to try the others! Check Stefanie out at Supernaturallacquer.storenvy.com.

Adventures in a Different Dimension!

I recently acquired my first Different Dimension polish in a grab bag and let me say, it's "Goodnight, Moon" in a tiny bottle. So, it's automatically one of the best things ever. It also has an adorable name:

Are you reading that? "To the Moon and Back". Like adorable children's books (I'm looking at you, Guess how much I Love You)
I used three thin coats of it with a bit of selective glitter digging. Love the formula. Love the idea.

How cute!! Looking forward to getting my hands on a few more of her creations!

Holos and glitters and pigments and thermals.

I love all kinds of polish, but honestly, it's the uniqueness of indie polishes that makes them my favourite. I recently scored "Am I Ginger?" By LynB, and as a Whovian, I was stoked. Not only one of my favourite lines from Tennent, but also a gorgeous and vibrant holo. I couldn't wait to use it in a mani.
I decided to pair it with both Lucky 13 Lacquer's "Gallifrey Falls/ No More" and Leigon Lacquer's "I Fell for Fall". Leigon makes some of my favourite glitter toppers and I figured, you can always use another Who reference!!

Here's the full mani, notice the lovely thermal effect of Gallifrey!

The bottles!! I'm so smitten with these three.  They have a great application, very smooth and easy. I used H K Girl's top coat and had no shrinkageat all. They're wonderfully brilliant and stunning. Very sparkly as well.

I love the little TARDIS image; it really made the bottle for me. So cute and clever! This polish took 2 coats to be entirely opaque, and it's very, very vibrant. The photos don't do it justice, believe me! It has a great, smooth application and, my favourite part, doesn't glop off the brush, even from the top!!

Here's a close up of Lucky 13 " Gallifrey Falls/No More". This one took 3 coats, and they had be thickish, but it's a lovely chocolate that shifts to orange. Great homage to the Time Lord painting! It has a really nice subtle shimmer as well!

I don't just paint nails...

I make jewellrey, too! Stefanie, of Supernatural Lacquer fame, is a dear friend of mine and we've been plotting like evil villains. For you see, we've decided to combine our powers and talents to bring you some of the cutest accessory sets the world has ever seen! Will there be world domination? Possibly; they're pretty cute.
I'd like to introduce "SuperSpoon", the collaboration of Supernatural Lacquer and Teaspoon Studios! There and Back Again

Back when I was 9 years old or so, I became obsessed with those 99 cent wet 'n wild polishes from Thrifty, or Rite Aide as it's called now. I used to match colours to holidays, days of the week, my mood...anything. I would paint anyone who would let me, albeit very messily, and I loved it. By the time 13 rolled around, I was a tomboy with cropped hair who climbed tress and would gag at the idea of painting my nails like some sort of girl. Heaven forbid I touch the stuff. They sat in a drawer and separated, forgotten for over a decade.  I was a nail biter, who did woodshop and worked on her car, climbed things and dug stuff up. My nails were tools, if they existed. A broken one didn't phase me, why would it? I destroyed my hands happily. Didn't touch lotion. Didn't know what a cuticle was, let alone the oil. But then, something changed.

I'm a bit ashamed to say that the change came less than a year ago. Sure, there were moments within my twenties when I would grow my nails a bit and slap some lacquer on: no top or bottom coat mind you. I even attempted hearts and stripes once. But nothing really happened until last year when I met my friend, and dealer.  It all started when I asked her where she got her nails done; she replied that she did them herself. It escalated: she showed me pictures, invited me over to do manicures and even helped me into the world of wholesale stores. However, it was she who also dealt the final blow to my sanity; she introduced me to indies.

She calls them hipster polishes, and she has a few, but she showed me a world of women making some of the coolest and more fun named polishes I've ever seen; and let me tell you, I'm a sucker for cute and quirky names.  I have a polish that has the same name as my bike...it's a problem. We made my first indie order together; I bought Black Cat Lacquer's "Dark Side of the Moon" ( I love that album) and "Paranormal" (for when I'm hunting ghosts).  That's when I was smitten. Those 2 bottles have since grown to over 50, and that's just my indie collection.

I went from eh to expert at her teachings. I can apply polish without getting it on my skin, I can use nail tools and make nail art. I take care of my cuticles. And this is my adventure.
